Dr. Yun-Bo Yi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering with a joint appointment in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He authored/coauthored nearly 50 journal/conference publications and book chapters. His research portfolio includes: thermal-mechanical stabilities in high speed sliding systems; dissipation mechanisms in MEMS/NEMS sensors; computational modeling of multiscale heterogeneous particulate and fibrous materials; percolation theories and applications; finite element simulations. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Engineering Mechanics, Machine Design, Materials Science, Numeral and Computational Methods, Elasticity, and Fluid Mechanics/Heat Transfer. During his sabbatical leave in the Autumn Quarter 2012, he visited Beijing Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University, and Beijing Science & Technology University in China to work with his research collaborators in the area of frictionally excited thermoelastic instability in automotive transmission systems.
