At the Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science, we prepare our innovators and researchers through our coursework, our departments, and our opportunities for cutting edge research as an R1 institution.
We have three departments for technological advancement: Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Mechanical & Materials Engineering. With over 25 undergraduate and graduate degrees offered in areas of study like Mechanical Engineering, Game Development, and Computer Engineering, students follow their passions and expand their knowledge.

Building a Community
While at the Ritchie School, students get involved in their learning through avenues like research, internships, and student organizations, as well as our Innovation Labs and Machine Shop where students get hands-on experience creating and building community.

The true mark of student success doesn’t rest solely on what they accomplish while at the Ritchie School. A real measure of our programs is where our students go upon graduating. Joint ECE and MME Mission
The joint mission of the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME) at the undergraduate level is:
- to offer programs that support and complement the mission of the University of Denver;
- to provide a general undergraduate education in mechanical, computer and electrical engineering that prepare students for employment or graduate study;
- to include interdisciplinary engineering work in all programs;
- to encourage the professional development of the faculty, and
- to foster the professional awareness of the students.
Strategic Plan
The School is at the forefront of inquiry and discovery to address societal goals locally, nationally, and internationally. Faculty are dedicated to collaborative, inclusive discovery, and knowledge creation. They work across disciplines within the school and around the DU campus while partnering with industry, government, and universities across the globe.
