“We wanted to reflect on questions like what can we uniquely do at the Ritchie School? How can we build distinctive programs that will be enticing to students who come here and faculty members who want to work here?” says Dean Michelle Sabick, Dean of the Ritchie School of Engineering & Computer Science.
Voice-of-the-student drove this new experience
The Paths Experience was purposefully built from student and alumni feedback as well as industry demand. Through extensive conversations with current students, second year learners, and those nearing graduation, we gathered critical insight about what students value most, what attracts them to the University of Denver, and where they feel gaps existed in their academic experience.
“The expectations of students have changed, and we need to respond to their needs and wants,” says Dean Sabick.
Students consistently expressed a desire for:
- Clear connections between coursework and careers
- More hands-on and applied learning
- Access to internships, co-ops, and professional experiences
- Holistic support
