What I do
Dr. Rachel Horenstein is the Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) at the Ritchie School, as well as as a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the University of Denver. She currently teaches courses in solid mechanics and engineering design. Her pedagogical interests include inclusive teaching practices, integrative learning, assessment, and project-based learning.Professional Biography
Dr. Horenstein earned her B.S. degree from Boston University in 2010 and her M.S. degree from the University of Southern California in 2014, both in Biomedical Engineering. She earned her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in 2020 where, as a member of the Multiscale Mechanics and Musculoskeletal Mechanobiology Lab, she investigated the impact of elite-level adolescent sports participation on hip joint development.
