Professional Biography

Dr. Mohammad H. Mahoor received his M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, in 1998 and his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Miami, Florida, in 2007. He was the recipient of the Eliahu & Joyce Jury Award for Outstanding Graduate Student and later the Marino Autism Research Institute Award for his work on facial expression analysis in children with autism. 

Dr. Mahoor joined the University of Denver in 2008 and transitioned to the Department of Computer Science in 2025. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, computer vision, and social robotics, with applications in eldercare, mental health, and human–robot interaction.
