Professional Biography

Dr. Erlin He is a Teaching Assistant Professor in Systems Engineering at the University of Denver’s Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science. He develops and teaches graduate-level courses in systems engineering fundamentals, modeling and simulation, optimization, continuous improvement, digital transformation, and verification and validation. His teaching philosophy emphasizes applied systems thinking and practical tools, enabling students to connect classroom learning to real-world problem solving. 

Dr. He holds a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology, where his dissertation focused on computational imaging and atmospheric turbulence compensation. He has co-authored and presented multiple papers at international conferences in optics, lasers, and photonics, advancing methods that improve computational speed and imaging accuracy. His research interests extend to optimization, signal processing, and system design - domains closely aligned with industry needs. Dr. He is an active member of INCOSE, IEEE, and NSS (National Space Society), reflecting his commitment to professional engagement and advancing the field of systems engineering. 

Outside of engineering, Dr. He enjoys singing and music, which he sees as both a creative outlet and a way to connect with others.
