Learn More About the Master's in Cybersecurity

News - Cloned  •

Why did you decide to enroll in DU's MS in Cybersecurity program?

I've had an interest in learning more about cybersecurity's role in national security for a while. I wanted to learn more about the technical aspects of cybersecurity and help contribute to the field, but I didn't have a background in computer science so DU's program was perfect!

What are your some of your specific interests in Cybersecurity?

I'm interested in networking.

What was your undergraduate education?

I have a BA in International Political Economy from Colorado College and an MA in International Security from Korbel [Josef Korbel School of International Studies].

What's your favorite part of living in Denver/Colorado?

I love being able to go rock climbing and being a short road trip away from Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming.

What are your hobbies?

Rock climbing, running, traveling, and finding the best breakfast burrito.

What has been your favorite class?

I really enjoyed the C++ bridge courses with Will Mitchell -- I learned a completely new programming language (C++) and used it to make games like Battleship and Tic-tac-toe. I also really liked Networking with Nate, which helped me to gain a better understanding of the technology I use every day.

Did you have a professional background prior to enrolling at DU or did you come straight from undergrad?

Before DU I worked in non-proliferation at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL)

What's your favorite part of the MS in Cybersecurity program?

I really enjoy how invested the faculty is in helping students to learn the material and willingness to talk about Cybersecurity issues you're interested in.
