Daniel Felix Ritchie School faculty members Kimon P. Valavanis and Matt J. Rutherford, and ORSP member Dina Fragkedaki are involved in the organization of the 2016 International Conference on Unmanned Aircraft Systems, ICUAS’16, which will be held for the first time in the Nation’s capital, in the Washington D.C. area, on June 7-10. Valavanis and Rutherford have launched and have been involved in this conference since its beginning. Since 2011, DU and The Ritchie School have been one of the main sponsors of this annual event. ICUAS’16 is technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Control Systems Society, the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society and the Mediterranean Control Association.
ICUAS’16 is expected to attract the highest number of participants from academia, industry, federal and state agencies, government, the private sector, users, practitioners and engineers who wish to be affiliated with and contribute technically to this highly demanding and rapidly evolving and expanding field. The theme of ICUAS’16 will focus on the very challenging and timely topic of ‘designing high-confidence autonomous unmanned systems’. The DU Unmanned Systems Research Institute (DU2SRI) will have a strong presence in the conference with presentations of research findings and exhibits, including prototype UAV systems.
