Dr. Haluk Ogmen Named Senior Associate Dean of the Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Denver
JB Holston, dean of the Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Denver (Ritchie School), has announced the appointment of Dr. Haluk Ogmen as senior associate dean effective August 1st, 2016. In this role, Ogmen will be the Ritchie School’s chief academic officer, in addition to serving as a full professor of electrical and computer engineering.
Ogmen joins the University of Denver from the University of Houston, where he has been a member of the electrical and computer engineering faculty since 1988. Ogmen’s research interests include: neuro-engineering, vision, visual psychophysics, visual memory, attention and computational neuroscience.
Holston said, “We’re delighted to add Dr. Ogmen to the Ritchie School team. Haluk brings deep experience as a cross-discipline researcher and educator to his new role at the University of Denver. As we expand our capabilities, he will play a critical role in the school’s academic development.”
Ogmen received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Universite Laval in Quebec and joined the faculty of the University of Houston upon his graduation in 1988. Since 2002, he has served as the Executive Director for the Center of Neuro-Engineering and Cognitive Science and received a joint appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in 2006. From 2004-2009, he chaired the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
